Meet Allison Meredith Healy

Visual Exploration & Material Experimentation

Drawing inspiration from nature, with the goal of visually reenchanting the world. The artistic approach blends observation and imagination, capturing both the tangible forms of nature and the feelings it evokes.

Allison Meredith Healy is a visual artist from Red Lake Falls, Minnesota. She received an Associate of Arts Degree from Northland Community and Technical College through Postsecondary Enrollment Options with a focus on literature and fine art. She received a full scholarship from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in illustration. She spent some time studying illustration and graphic design at the University of Brighton in England through the Student Exchange Program. After college, she relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, and spent many years working with a wide range of clients. Her work has appeared in numerous publications, including book covers, children’s books, magazines, album covers, and applied graphics on various products for both print and web. Before returning to Minnesota, she taught youth classes in visual art and woodworking at the Eliot School of Fine and Applied Arts in Boston. She also runs a small woodworking business, Rooted Relics, where she brings her illustration and design experience to the wooden surface.

Artist Statement:

"While I use a variety of materials and processes, my methodology is consistent. Although there may not always be material similarities between the different projects, they are linked by recurring formal concerns and subject matter. My work has always been grounded in a love for poetry and aesthetics. I strive to create images that are beautiful and convey a narrative. I have found the histories of surrealism and symbolism to be useful in the rearranging of realistic observations. Deep introspection and personal transformation have led to looking more closely at the intimate forms of leaves, branches, and lines in nature. My goal is to invite those who see my work to look more carefully at the world around them and how it relates to the symbolic inner world."
