Create Your Own Watercolor
In this hands-on workshop, students learned the fundamental process of creating their own watercolor paints from scratch, as artists of the past did. This included mixing pigments with a binder and formulating desired color palettes. We looked at the properties of different colors and how to prepare and store the watercolor paint. Using a paint muller and a slab to mix paints, students selected different powdered pigments to develop a custom watercolor palette.

Graham Studio Residency
9 Month Graham Studio Residency with the Grand Marais Art Colony The Grand Marais Art Colony, established in 1947. Project Proposal I've been contemplating this particular project for a while now, but haven't had the opportunity or space to dive into it. This project involves rethinking my approach to using watercolor as a medium. I aim to create a series of watercolor paintings that utilize recycled and up-cycled materials instead of traditional paper. To this end, I've been

Deserts of California
This expedition through the desert served as a profound reminder that growth often lies just beyond the borders of our comfort zone. By trading familiar northern pines for the stark, alien beauty of shifting sands, I gained more than just photographs.

Driving the Ring Road - Iceland
A grand sunrise. This is an amazing way to spend a morning after landing at the Keflavík Airport at 4 am. As you leave the airport, you enter a desolate landscape often described as "driving on the moon," with vast lava fields blanketed in moss. This drive provides a scenic introduction to the Reykjanes Peninsula, featuring rugged terrain and expansive ocean views as you make your way to Reykjavík. Hallgrímskirkja, a Lutheran church located in Reykjavík, Iceland, is renowned

Comings and Goings - England
Visual experiments to show the passing of time. - University of Brighton There is a constant rattling from behind me as I bob around trying to write down my thoughts on this little pad of paper. It is interesting being in this almost intimate setting with strangers viewing this once strange place through the window. The sky is like an old friend that you are so very happy to see after the English gray drifts off. Looking around at the people seated in front of me, I start to

Scottish Adventure
In the final two years of high school, I enrolled at Northland Community and Technical College and earned an Associate's degree via post-secondary enrollment options. During the Spring semester, I talked with my art professor, John Leopold, about a trip to Scotland. He mentioned the possibility of traveling there, and I was enthusiastic about making it happen. He said that if I could find 10 students interested, the trip would proceed. In the end, 19 students participated in
